The best tip by far is to LEARN your camera and photographic basics. READ your owner’s manual plus get some books that cover photography principles. A great, knowledgeable photographer will always get MUCH better photos that someone with the most expensive, latest and greatest camera who has no clue how to use it.
Have fun and experiment!!!

Start by reading on how to use your camera. Probably the best thing to do before you start.
The main thing is to experiment. Change the white balance, flash, mode, exposure etc. And you’re bound to get a fantastic picture.
But, one thing which I usually use is the Golden Mean way. usually, on a digital camera, you can get 9 boxes equally divided on your screen.
Really, all you have to do is place your "subject" into one of the 8 outside boxes; it makes it more dynamic and more eye-catching. If you take the subject in the middle, it is called the Bullseye mean. This is usually less dynamic than the Golden Mean.
Hope that helps. Have fun with the experimenting.
The easisest pictures to take (and they are also nice) are flowers. Go outside and take close-ups of flowers (using macro), then do some editing to them. Don’t edit them to much though, real photographers hate when people over edit. Try to make it look like you didn’t edit them, even though you did.

Choose something that you like. Then research that topic to learn how to take the best photographs of that topic.
Sometimes, it takes some passion to find the drive to take on a more formal photography class or school.
