Essentially, whenever using a word, you need to keep in mind that people assume certain things. These assumptions are often based on either connotations, or just simply being exposed to a biased message for to long. Thus I would advise using a more complicated term, and then when people ask, then explain what it is. This is a good way to sidestep the whole misinformation-label issue, by using a new term

Alright, I think I would agree with that being a good system, and that china and other ‘communist’ countries aren’t exactly that. However, I would encourage you to be more specific whenever discussing this topic with others since most people run off from a skewed definition.
Reasonguy, I can tell you that Marx meant that Communism if free from the struggle for power – hegemony which plays with Pierre Bourdieu’s three forms of Capital, including economic, cultural and social. Economic system can be Capitalist as much as the political system and anything that includes social interaction. Socialism is a political movement to discuss, agree in consensus and share, to stop possession and competition
